The Civil War was a defining event in the history of the United States. The issues, the conflict, the compassion, the brutality, and the personalities from America's deadliest war continue to fascinate us to this day.

Dedicated to developing the known history and a better understanding of this unique war, our organization is just what you've been seeking.  Come get to know us!  Visitors and students are always free and welcome!


Time, Date, and Location for May Meeting:

The Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks will meet at 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the auditorium inside the Library Center, 4653 South Campbell Avenue, in Springfield. Featured Speaker: Dr. Doug Scott will discuss: "Dreadful were the Vestiges of War; Surviving Bullet Struck Structures and Objects from the first day of the American Revolution."

August: No meeting for August, instead everyone is encouraged to attend the anniversary at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield


September 10th: Jane Johansson: "New Fields of Adventure: Lyman G. Bennetts Civil War"


October 8th: Dale Phillips: "The Capture of New Orleans"


November 12th: Matt Matthews and Paul Thomas: "Union Guerillas of Civil War Kansas: Jayhawkers and Red Legs"
